Undergraduate requirements (BM, BME)

Audition material totaling 15-25 minutes, from which the audition committee will choose excerpts. The audition should consist of three or more pieces in contrasting styles of your choice. These can be on electric viola alone, with backing tracks, or with other musicians. Original material and improvisations are welcome. Please contact Prof. Rudolf Haken rlhaken@illinois.edu with questions regarding audition repertoire; equipment we provide for live auditions; instructions for recorded auditions; etc.

On-campus audition dates can be found here. It is highly recommended that all undergraduate candidates attend an on-campus audition. If you are unable to audition on-campus, please select the “recorded” audition format preference on your supplemental music form. Undergraduate applicants who would like to submit a recorded audition should follow the steps outlined here.

Graduate requirements (MM, DMA, AD)
